Meta

Art direction / Motion Graphics / Design

Electric Pearl Productions and I worked together on this Meta project. My role in this project involved many aspects from concept to completion of final product. My initial role involved art directing the overall look and design and creating storyboards + directing the video production on set for the hardware and green screen shoot. All design and motion graphics post production was also created by me.

About:
This was a video project containing interviews mixed with animated motion graphics displaying some of Meta's newest chip innovations in a hip+ sleek and colorful tone. Myself + Electric Pearl Productions worked together to make this project happen. The final product was a 5+ minute internal video that discussed new tech and the perspectives of the teams within Meta that worked together to create it.

***I am not able to display the full video here but I have added imagery and portions of the animated chips displayed throughout it.

The Task:
To create an exciting and lengthy mixed media video that contains interviews combined with motion graphics and animated scenes displaying some of Meta's newest innovations.

Problems Solved:
There was a bit of a tight turnaround for this video but the request was for realistic but fun displays (similar to Apple or Nike ads) of some of the hardware and chips. We did not have a lot of info on these nor were we allowed to take any of them home with us. 3D modeling + lighting the scene seemed like something that was not quite feasible in this situation/timeline so the team went on site in San Fransisco. Many angles and spin videos over a green-screen were shot, so that I could key out the backgrounds to use the hardware within different animated scenes. I art directed and drew out the shot details + angles and I helped direct the shots we were looking for with each piece.

Another issue we ran into involved text and serial numbers on some of the hardware. We did not initially know those were going to be on there or need to be removed. This added some post production time but we used a few different tactics within After Effects to paint/track and remove all text displayed on the hardware in the videos.

Software Used:
After Effects, Illustrator
